ASB GlassFloor as main act at ISPO

Presentation of world novelty generates phenomenal feedback

“Four very successful days” – the leading trade fair for sports professionals was a huge success for ASB GlassFloor. The innovative company from Bavaria presented a world-first during the ISPO in Munich – and was rewarded with phenomenal feedback. The fair participation was crowned by a special award: the ASB MultiSports received the ISPO Innovation Gold Award in the category “Teamsport”.

ISPO 2019 is over and has once again dwarfed the past records: approx. 80’000 visitors came to visit the largest international sports fair, which established a new record with 2943 exhibitors. Not only the organisers were happy with the thoroughly successful event – for ASB GlassFloor, the four days at the Munich exhibition site were a double win: “Our new development, the live tracking system for ASB LumiFlex, was one of the crowd pleasers at ISPO”, says ASB’s Managing Director Christof Babinsky. “And the fact that the ISPO Gold Award was won by ASB MultiSports really made our day.”

Whether it is basketball, badminton or indoor hockey – with the sports floor ASB MultiSports, any type of professional sports game line can be switched on or off via touchscreen. This feature facilitates the usage of multifunctional areas tremendously – which is what the jury found, too, and hence awarded the floor with the ISPO Gold Winner Award 2019 in the “Team sports” category. “Innovations are born when state-of-the-art technology meets inspiration. It is precisely such ideas by Teamsport ISPO Award Winners that propel any team forward”, says the jury’s statement.

This description also fits the world premiere that ASB GlassFloor as the sole provider of professional glass sports floors first showcased at ISPO: a live-player-tracking system for ASB LumiFlex, ASB’s full LED floor – for Christof Babinsky nothing less than “the future of training, leisure and professional sports”. With this new development the athlete becomes part of a live-scale computer game; professional training modules such as coordination or speed tests can be carried out, or new elements for further engagement with the audience during sports events can be implemented.

Visitors at ISPO were able to experience these never before seen possibilities live throughout the duration of the fair – from regular sports enthusiasts to professionals from all areas of sports and sports management, to journalists and celebrities, everyone was welcome to try it out. The new era of sports flooring design was heralded with the first ever football game with a digital ball. “We have known the business long and well enough to know that the new flooring system is more than just a novelty among many others.”, says Christof Babinsky. “We did not think that the feedback would be so overwhelming, that really made us very happy! Many a well-known athlete stopped by and wanted to try the flooring themselves – and gave us positive feedback in every respect.”
