REHAU at the imm cologne 2019

The imm cologne is a leading international trade fair for interior design, where exhibitors from all over the world present their innovations. The entire spectrum of furniture, living visions and furnishing trends was at home on the Rhine for just a week, starting on 14 January and due to 20 January. A special exhibition of "Let's be smart" was also dedicated to the topic of innovations. In Hall 4.1, a group of exhibitors showed how intelligent technologies make living more comfortable. REHAU focused on the "Bathroom" topic.

The creation of ambience through light is in vogue. With lighting, the character of rooms change in matter of seconds. Light is one of the most flexible tools for interior design and the importance of adapted lighting scenarios in room design is increasing accordingly. Whether in mobile environments such as the car, in offices or at home - light increases individual well-being and can easily adapt to the respective mood. With its contribution to the special exhibition "Let's be smart", REHAU showed how this new versatility of light could be implemented in the bathroom. The bathroom has long since ceased to be just a place of hygiene, but a home wellness.

The bathroom that REHAU designed for the imm cologne can be matched to individual moods with sensitive ambient lighting. Those who need energy in the morning, can create a stimulating and bright ambience. Anyone, who wants to enjoy a warm shower before falling asleep and is looking for relaxation can choose a soothing colour. The lighting is integrated over the entire surface of the shower top. If not switched on the lighting technology is not visible.

With this installation, REHAU showed how trend-setting materials and smart technologies work together. A central element here are the high-quality polymer surfaces, which are combined with Smart Sense Technology. This turns previously unused surfaces into functional elements. Conventional control elements such as light switches or dimmers are therefore superfluous. Instead, the lighting scenery is controlled directly via the RAUVISIO surfaces. The high-tech switch technology is simple and convenient to use and at the same time invisible: the Smart Sense Control is brought to life only when approached by hand. Intuitive touch movements do not only regulate the colour but also the brightness of the light. In contrast to conventional switches, operation with wet fingers in a shower is possible.

For REHAU, the trend-setting bathroom design study is only a first step towards a smart home: the Furniture Solutions Division is not only concerned with innovative control elements but also with new services and business models, and is thus further orienting itself as a competent solution provider and partner for smart interiors. "The diversity of innovation projects at the trade fair shows that we have set the right course for the future of Smart Interior. Our goal is to become the innovation leader in this field with our Furniture Solutions Division," explains Jürgen Werner, Head of the Furniture Solutions Division at REHAU Group.
