Surfaces matter: REHAU is consistently expanding the RAUVISIO surface range

Systematic surface expertise and a new campaign

Having applied its edgeband expertise to surfaces for more than a decade, REHAU has established its own independent surface range. RAUVISIO includes high-quality visual glass effects, noble matt finishes and textured versions. In this way, REHAU offers furniture manufacturers and interior designers a seamless design match combining surfaces, edgebands and tambour door systems. The flexibility with which rooms can be designed is also apparent in the new external slogan ‘Surfaces matter’.

For more than 10 years, RAUVISIO has been synonymous with surface materials for furniture construction through REHAU Interior Solutions. Today, the range includes solutions for kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, offices, restaurants and shops – with inspiring, easy-to-process materials, high durability and a wide variety of design options. The roots of the surface portfolio lie in the edgeband: ‘It is in our DNA to replace other materials with polymers and therefore give products smart new properties and make them easier to process,’ says Hans Peter Mehnert, Vice President of Product, Innovation & Technology at REHAU Interior Solutions. ‘Through the edgeband, we already fulfill many of the key prerequisites: you have to be familiar with materials and workflows in production and processing, and you need expertise in color fidelity, decorative preferences, collection management and quality control. We have applied these skills to our boards.’

From edgeband specialist to surface design brand

REHAU Interior Solutions is a world-leading supplier of furniture components with a focus on edgebands, surfaces and tambour door systems. The company consciously thinks beyond a purely technical perspective at the development stage: RAUVISIO surfaces combine functionality with high durability and a wide range of design options – from smart glass laminates and elegant matt HPL material to structured mineral textures. The smart glass RAUVISIO crystal offers planners the look of glass with a low weight, high breakage resistance and easy processing using woodworking tools. Matt surfaces with a soft-touch and anti-fingerprint effect, such as RAUVISIO noir, bring an elegant, calm appearance to busy areas while remaining robust and resistant to heat and moisture. Naturally textured variants such as RAUVISIO cube translate architectural materials such as concrete into a lighter, break-resistant surface system. The portfolio has grown steadily over recent years, with several trend collections in the RAUVISIO crystal range providing impetus. In this way, REHAU is clearly positioning itself as a trendsetter: ‘When it comes to edgebands, we follow the design of the panel manufacturers; when it comes to surfaces, we want to be setting the trends.’ With this approach, REHAU Interior Solutions now sees itself as a creative surface brand: surfaces are not seen as an accessory, but as a central design element, a level at which quality, functionality and aesthetics are combined to characterise a room.

Bridge to communication: ‘Surfaces matter’ and the cube

Our enhanced surface expertise is now reflected in the image we currently project. In line with the slogan ‘Surfaces matter’, REHAU is highlighting how RAUVISIO surfaces can characterise rooms and change moods – whether planning a carpentry workshop, an industrial manufacturing facility or an architectural office. The core element is an animated cube that combines different room types – kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, office and shop – into an abstract yet instantly understandable visual language. Each side of the cube represents a living space and sets the scene for different moods which, once clicked on, can be explored in greater depth through mood boards, detailed images and application examples. This allows people to experience how flexibly REHAU surfaces can be applied and how they support projects for different target groups – from architectural designs to customised carpentry solutions.

The campaign, which is being rolled out internationally via digital channels and trade fairs, will serve as a communicative umbrella for the RAUVISIO range of surfaces. One message always takes centre stage: surfaces are the element that makes a room unmistakable – and this is precisely where REHAU comes in with its surface expertise.
